Why does URB achieve high-performance substrate?

Problem

A lack of knowledge as to what is “high-performance substrate”?

Solution

Support interested growers in achieving high-performance substrates by sharing the fundamental “ingredients”, and thus explaining how URB helps all growers, no matter experience or method, achieve a more productive and efficient growing medium.

  • 3 Requirements. One Driver. More For Less.

  • High-performance: an outcome, or a process?

    • Traditional Thinking (20th c.): High-performance is an outcome

    • URB (21st c.) Thinking: The high-performance outcome is a process.

      • All high-functioning complex systems are governed by processes -- outcomes tell the story, processes make the story.

Be a maker -- biology-based medicine.

Summary

(1) High-performance substrate rests on the understanding that nutrient cycling is most efficient and most productive when controlled by your plant.

(2) Your plant continuously communicates with the biomass of bacteria and fungi in the rhizosphere to form nutrient exchanges as specified by your plant.

(3) Phyto-controlled nutrient cycling means your plant is getting exactly what it needs (no excesses or deficiencies), exactly when it needs it (second-to-second, 24/7).

(4) The communication that occurs is in the form of photosynthesized exudates (simple sugars mostly) that feed the bacterial and fungal biomass in exchange for nutrients they “mine.”

(5) The microbes consume these simple sugars to power their production of enzymes needed to mine, process, and deliver the specific nutrients your plant is calling forth from the available nutrient pool.

(6) Your plant’s ability to deliver exudates through its root system, and the bacteria and fungi’s ability to mine, process, and deliver high-quality nutrients, are both dependent on well-structured grow mediums.

(7) Bacteria and fungi form micro and macro aggregates respectively, whilst the movement of plant roots and other microorganisms create larger pathways for the movement of water and oxygen.

(8) In sum, high-performance mediums = biologically stable mediums; high-performance biology = biologically stable mediums. (9) The benefits of high-performance substrate— The outcomes of biological process:
